Orbs - Chapter 2

Chapter Two

"Ouch! I think something bit me!"

I looked back at Amethyst. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she said, nodding. "Just a spider."

I shivered, and continued on down the tunnel. Cobwebs were draped along the ceiling, a few dragging against my fur. This was definitely not the best thing that had happened today. It was interesting, yes, but nowhere near fun.

We kept on like that, crawling along and fighting off spiders, until there was a change in the path.

"Uhh, Am, there's a fork up ahead," I said.

She let out a surprised note. "Really? A fork? Who would leave their cutlery down here?"

I laughed. "No, not that type of fork. The tunnel splits off into two, so which do you think we should take."

"Definitely the one with the least cobwebs."

Only a few minutes later, we clambered out from the stuffy passage and into a dark room. The only light came from a flickering candle perched on a wall, but even that only managed to light up a very small area.

Amethyst wandered out from the tunnel opening and into the gloom. After three seconds, she had completely disappeared.

"Am? Are you okay?" I called hesitantly out into the darkness.

"I'm fine, Em. Stop worr-OWW!"

I panicked. "Am! Am! Where are you? Are you still conscious?"

I heard her laughter. "Yes, Em. I just tripped over something. It's no big deal, but come here anyway. There's something really strange which you and your sorcery books might be able to explain."

Blindly, I walked to where her voice was coming from. What was Am meaning by 'something which you and your sorcery books might be able to explain'? What did she find?

I eventually managed to stumble into Am. She reached up and handed me a kind of stone. Looking at it closely, I knew exactly what it was.

"This..." I trailed off breathlessly. "This is an ORB!"

I couldn't see Amethyst, but I knew she was intrigued.

"An orb as in those wand-things that are in your favorite book?"

I nodded. "Yes. The wizards used the orbs as wands. They could do all sorts of awesome spells. And guess what, Am! That book was the same one which gave me the clue to come here!"

"Hm. Maybe it's a real story, then," she said. "Anyway, so what do we do now?"

Shrugging, I said, "Well, maybe lets go back to the tunnel and leave. Since I'm staying over at your house for a sleepover, we could try and practice some spells with the orbs. Maybe tomorrow morning we could come back and explore some more."

"Good idea," said Am, standing up beside me, "Although, there is one slight issue..."

"Oh no, what is it?" I asked her.

"Well, where is the tunnel?"

I stared at her blankly. "Uh oh. This is not good."

Pictures from Blazing Hot Red Day!

Hey its jar here :) here are some of the photos from Red day.

Hi friends!

Wow, your pictures from Blazing Hot Red Day last Thursday were so blazing hot that I almost needed a fire extinguisher! I've posted the pictures you sent in an album on Facebook. You can click that link to see them, even if you don't have a Facebook account.

There were so many awesome pictures sent in that it was hard to pick just a few to feature here on my blog. I've been keeping track of who has had a picture featured on my blog, and I try to mostly pick pandas who haven't been on my blog before. That way, more pandas get to say "I've been on Henry's Blog!" Check out these cool, blazing hot pictures!

Orbs - Chapter One

Hello everyone! It's Blu here.

I have been thinking over some of my story ideas a bit and I suddenly remembered Orbs. It's set in Pandanda and is based around two girls who go on a huge adventure (I would say quest, but that would make it seem like they would be collecting a whole heap of ingredients for Blueberry Pie instead).

Okay, so get ready, get set, and start reading!

Orbs - Chapter One

"Hi, Farmer Ned," I said as I walked through the farm gate. I saw he was busy selling an orange panda some grain, so I sat on the cold, stone wall of the well and waited. Once he had finished with the panda, he came over to me.

"You looking for Amethyst? She's in the barn with Maggie, giving Daisy some hay."

My eyes lit up. I thanked him, and raced up, through a gate, and towards the big, copper-colored building.

My best friend Amethyst was Farmer Ned's daughter. She helped out on the farm when she wasn't out fishing or shopping with me.

I saw her in the barn beside the big black-and-white cow. A pineapple appeared beside her and, when Maggie turned away to chat to a panda, she sneakily grabbed it and stuffed the fruit into the pocket of her jeans. Amethyst saw me and winked.

"Don't tell Maggie, Emerald," she whispered as I walked up to her. "I'm supposed to be feeding Daisy here, so Maggie would probably tell me off if I was too busy collecting stuff for the Summer Festival."

I grinned. "You've no need to worry, Amethyst," I said, "your secret is safe with me. Besides, those togas that Kapono is giving away look really cool. I'm sure Maggie wouldn’t mind if she knew you were picking up the occasional pineapple that gets in the way.”

"What's that?" I heard a voice call out from across the barn.

Maggie was walking back towards us, having just sold an excited panda a pony. In her hand was a pitchfork, which she handed to me.

"Can you help us please, Emerald?" she asked me. "There are some horse stalls that need cleaning, and neither I nor Amethyst have the time to sort them out.”

"Sure." I said. It would take a while, but I liked helping Maggie. She always gave me coins each time I went to see her. Hopefully one day I would have enough to buy another pony.

But for now I would just stick with Smoke, my current horse. Smoke was gray, with a black mane. He had green eyes, which were the colour of a leafy rainforest plant. Smoke was my second best friend, after Amethyst.

I started scraping up the hay in one of the horse stalls on the left wall and pushing it into a pile. A pineapple appeared on the top of the stack, but disappeared as soon as I tried to grab it.

I sighed, the frustration pouring out of me. My paws worked rhythmically for the next hour or so, scooping up the dirty hay, loading it into the wheelbarrow, then moving on to the next stall.

Pineapples kept appearing before me all through that time, teasingly disappearing before I could have the chance to grab them. I saw Amethyst look at me out of the corner of her eye. As I lunged for another pineapple (yes, it left immediately), she giggled.

"Having a bit of trouble, Emerald?" she asked me, jokingly.

I grumbled. "Yeah, a little."

The rest of the day carried on much the same way. I chatted, I ate ice cream, I fished... but never did I manage to collect a single pineapple. It seemed almost as if the fruits were deliberately playing a game; as if they were deliberately hiding from me.

It was unbelievably annoying.

When I was walking through Bear Hollow with Amethyst, I noticed something. The pineapples weren’t hiding from me… they were trying to lead me somewhere!

I saw one appear on the doorstep of the Book Nook, and so went into the large library. Amethyst gave me a questioning glance, but I ignored it.

The next pineapple was beside the fireplace. I followed it. Then the next one was heading over to a shelf. The last was right there – right beside the bookcase that held the books on sorcery.

I stopped. This was a dead end. There was no path ahead of me, so the only choice was to turn around and head back home.

The pineapples had defeated me.

The next day…

The Book Nook was filled with chattering voices. It was almost deafening, really, considering libraries were supposed to be quiet places.

Nevertheless, I sat on a beanbag opposite Amethyst, who was busy reading a fantasy novel.

I glanced at the book in my hands. It was an adventure story, full of sorcerers and evil people and orbs.

The storyline was about a sorcerer who lived right here, in Pandanda, and had a magical orb that he used as a sort of wand. There were heaps of battles against evil dragons from foreign lands.

The most ingenious part of the whole story was about the House of Sorcerers (based on the Haunted House, I’m guessing). You could get to it by the normal forest path, but there was also a secret passageway between the Book Nook and the Parlour of the House…

I stopped and flipped back through the many pages of the novel. There – on page 30! The sorcerer used to go through a tunnel hidden by a shelf of books…

It was hard to stop myself from jumping up and dancing. I had found out where the trail of pineapples was leading me! I had found the secret passage that the sorcerer had used!

Later on…

Amethyst complained as I dragged her back to the Book Nook.

“Look,” she said, “I know you love books, but haven’t we already been there today?”

“Yup.” I said as I skipped up towards where the Book Nook sign was creaking in the breeze. “Come on, Am! It’s time for an adventure!”

When we arrived in the building there was no one in sight. My friend looked uneasy, so I ran off to the bookshelf before she could decide to leave.

I pushed the books off to one side, where they conveniently slid over another shelf. A cloud of dust rose out from a hole of blackness and I started choking.

Well, that certainly caught Amethyst’s attention.

“What’s that?” she said, coming closer.

“The secret tunnel in that book I’ve been reading. It exists!”

She looked as if she didn’t really understand it all. Confusion, worry… but covered with a whole load of curiosity.

“Will it be safe, do you think?” Amethyst said.

I shrugged. “Don’t ask me. I just hope that it’s safe... and spider-free!”

I could sense Amethyst watch me as I disappeared into the ancient passage. Then a change of mind must have come over her, for she leaped in right after me and tugged the shelf back over the hole.

“Right then,” she said, “it’s time for the adventure!”

Red day!

Blazing Hot Red Day!

Hey it's jar here, looks like there going to be another color day tomorrow.

Hey Panda Pals!

The Harvest Festival is going strong! The Scarecrow at Harvest Grove has some super Harvest Fest prizes for you. Just collect the caramel apples you see around Pandanda, then trade them for the prizes!

If you have pet dragons, you will want to make sure to get the Dragon House to put in your treehouse. You can even get more than one, if you want (and if you collect enough apples!)

In case you haven't heard, the clothing catalog was updated on Sunday with some end-of-summer items. Summer is winding down, and the weather will be turning cooler soon, so take advantage of the hot summer Pandanda days to show off some new warm-weather fashions!

Speaking of hot, I've decided that Thursday is Blazing Hot Red Day! Go through your closet and put on your red Panda Paint, and all of the red clothes and accessories you can find. Then get together with all of your friends and raise the temperature with all of that red-hot redness!

If you take a cool picture of the fiery fun, send them to me at screenshots@pandanda.com with RED
DAY in the subject line. I'll choose some of the reddest to feature on my Blog!

Be Red Hot but don't lose your cool!

New Catalog Outfits!

Ok, I forgot lately what this blog is about. My (and blu's) goal at first was to make a blog that WASN'T your typical blog. Now, the homies are doing a better job than me at that. So instead of writing the latest "news," I'm going to write DIFFERENT stuff!

The new catalog is here, and along with it the ULTIMATE pandanda item. Yes, ultimate in caps. What is this item? Obviously, it's the Silver (and black, but silver is better) Beta Glasses. (called designer glasses in the catalog) In the catalog the colour picker thing is white but once you put them on your panda they are silver btw.

Anyway! Outfit time!

This girls outfit is REALLY popular in other colours. I have too many items so the colours are a bit... Ewh, so try picking a colour then wear: a Grey Halter top, The Hula Skirt in a colour of your choice, a flower necklace or lei, white flower jandals (NEVER sneakers!) Silver beta glasses, and a Beret in colour of your choice.

This boys outfit is really cool. The colours remind me of green apples O.O anyway, you can try it in different colours too. (or add a different hat! There aren't very many hats for boys in the latest catalog, so I've used mohawks!)

oooo, I LOVE this (girls) outfit! I usually wear it with bunny slippers and in different colours. If you have a flower, wear that instead of the hat. Also, try different dress and hat colours! You can't go wrong with this outfit.

This boy's outfit is great if you want a bit of colour. try changing all the colours, but the red jeans look really great in-game :-)

This girl's outfit is great if you are a bit of a tomboy. Try different t-shirts and different coloured jeans, plus a different coloured hat.

This boys outfit looks great in game. The jeans and shoes are the same colour, which looks AWESOME. girls wear this outfit with a beret instead of a mohawk, and maybe a grey halter top.

Ok, so that's all the pics I have. Hope you like them! Remember, girls can swap the beret for a flower for most of them, and boys can swap the mohawk for a hat if they want. As for panda paint, wear brown. if you HATE brown, wear grey. If you have gold, wear it no matter what. I know somebody who refuses to wear anything but that ugly blue colour, and their outfits don't look as good.

Btw, all these outfits are completely items from the new catalog!
